The local Labour spokesman says the figure is in fact higher, and wants a slower reduction. The local LibDem suggests a number of areas to save money.<br \/>\nCambridgeshire County Council announce their budget cut at 3%. The local Labour man says it&#8217;s nearer 11% and is, in fact, just the first step towards the complete privatisation of all council services. BBC insist it&#8217;s all the fault of the Labour Party.<br \/>\nPolice are hand-delivering 40 Xmas cards to persistent offenders to remind them of their seasonal obligations towards the community. It&#8217;s also a good excuse to knock on their doors.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nPeterborough Hospitals are holding a crutch amnesty as they lose most of them and some turn up at car boot sales.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s about it really for local news, and only three of them were local. There are various pieces of advertorial dotted around, including a pole dancing establishment in Norfolk Street, some Xmas trees still available down the Oundle Road and Santa&#8217;s Grotto in Queensgate, but news it ain&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>One of the staff was moaning that they had to work right up until 6pm on December 24th.  BBC eh?<\/p>\n<p>During an item about the spirit of Christmas, the BBC Peterborough interview was apparently with a soul-therapist from Muswell Hill, taken by surprise on the day. Staggers had to do all work. How did that happen?<\/p>\n<p>Note: the lady does apparently do a bit with the Beeb:<br \/>\n<em>&#8220;My favourite broadcast was for the celebrated veteran BBC producer of classic comedy programmes, Ian Guardhouse, in which I featured along with Morecambe &amp; Wise, The Goons, George Melly and Stanley Unwin on Stephen Fry\u2019s \u201cThe Joy Of Gibberish\u201d on BBC Radio 4.&#8221;<\/em><br \/>\nI won&#8217;t send you straight to the website. <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.soul-therapy.co.uk\/diploma-course\/course-founder\/\" target=\"now\">There&#8217;s a blog here<\/a>. It&#8217;s quite interesting. It&#8217;s a bit Weekend Guardian. Something to read later on.<\/p>\n<p>There was a thing about horseradish sandwiches for the common cold. And a lady from Ely who won a WI jam competition. Peterborough, Ely, Peterborough . It&#8217;s quite a nice run out.
