The recent increase in rural thefts is generally being blamed on high scrap metal prices. Police cannot be everywhere and there are no simple answers.
There are various intitiatives locally to promote electricity generation on a small scale using renewables. The jury is still out on wind turbines hearing criticism about alleged noise and efficiency issues, but a company called Hereward Solar Solutions has opened an branch in-store at Notcutts on Oundle Road aiming for domestic customers.
